Pre-conference fieldtrip (4 December, 8.30am – 4pm)
In keeping with Agri-Food tradition there will be a pre-conference fieldtrip on Monday 4 December. We will be visiting the scenic Derwent Valley to the north of Hobart, one of Tasmania’s most diverse and fertile agricultural regions. The cost of the field trip is $110 and is capped at a maximum of 55 participants.
Our first stop will be the Westerway Raspberry Farm where we will hear about the farm’s history and farming practices. Being early December, there will be the opportunity to taste and purchase fresh raspberries as well as raspberry ice cream and their wide range of jams and preserves.
Our second and main stop for the day will be The Agrarian Kitchen located in the town of New Norfolk. With a commitment to serving organic food sourced where possible from their on-site vegetable garden, The Agrarian Kitchen showcases some of the freshest and finest locally sourced food and drink in Tasmania. On arrival, we will be given a tour of their garden. This will be followed by a three-course lunch with one matching wine. Please note that The Agrarian Kitchen is unable to accommodate for vegan, fodmap, kosher, paleo, keto, and dairy free/lactose free diets.
