There are a number of social activities to get to know other conference delegates before and during the ‘conference proper’. Registration is required for all the following activities to help us coordinate numbers effectively. Details on timings for transport and arrivals will be communicated in our conference booklet closer to the conference.
Postgraduate Day – 30 November (modest additional cost)
The all day activity will involve Indigenous rēwana bread making with Whakatipu Mana Kai, on the west coast of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Details of the activities for the day (including transport logistics, timing etc) will be sent to those who registered for this day. There will be shuttle bus transport to the site, with pick-up at the start of the day and drop-off at the end of the day, located at the University of Auckland. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
‘Waiheke Foodscapes’ Fieldtrip – 1 December (additional cost)
Our pre-conference field trip will include behind-the-scenes visits, talks, tastings, and insights into food waste, (morethanhuman) winemaking, seaweed harvesting and more, all on Waiheke Island, a short ferry ride from Auckland CBD. Lunch, return ferry and all on-island transport included.
Note: The fieldtrip is now available to be selected on the registration page as an ‘add on’.
Welcome event – 1 December (after the fieldtrip)
Come and join us for a drink and a catch up with other delegates before we start our sessions. Welcome drink and canapes included.
Legendary Agrifoods Trivia Night – 2 December
Perhaps the most highly anticipated event of the conference … this is not your average quiz. Expect the unexpected! Join us at Twofold in Parnell, a 20min stroll from the conference venue. Welcome drink included.
Conference Dinner – 3 December (additional cost)
3-course meal at Auckland’s Viaduct, at The Wharf Side. Please advise any dietaries on registration.
Look out for the conference booklet, which will communicate final timings for these activities. We look forward to welcoming you!
