We are delighted to announce that the next Australasian Agri-Food Research Network conference will be held in Tweed Heads during the week commencing December 2, 2024.
Hosted by the University of Sydney, the theme of the conference is: Global Challenges: Local Actions. The conference will occur over three days, from the morning of Wednesday 4 December until the afternoon of Friday 6 December.
Prior to the conference’s formal commencement, there are three pre-conference events. Confirm your attendance at these events through the registration link.
A post-graduate and early-career researchers networking session will be held from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Monday 2 December. This comes at no additional expense to participants, and will be held at the conference venue, the Twin Towns Conference and Function Centre. (Note, scheduling of all conference events is on Qld time.)
A pre-conference field trip is scheduled for Tuesday 3 December, from 10:00am to 3:30pm (Qld time). This will be an informative cruise on the Tweed River from the conference venue to the picturesque village of Tumbulgum. Along the way, we’ll hear about the environmental and First Nations’ histories of the Tweed Valley, and stop to visit remnant rainforest ecosystems. A morning tea and lunch of locally-sourced foods is included. We’ll be on the Captain Bill Explorer boat, operated by Tweed Eco Cruises. Cost of the fieldtrip is $95.
A welcome reception will be held on Tuesday 3 December, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm (Qld time), at the Twin Towns Conference and Function Centre. Canapes and an open bar are included. The cost is $25 and pre-payment needs to be confirmed through the registration link.
At the conclusion of the first formal day of the conference, 4 December, we will have the legendary Agri-trivia night. A good time for all is guaranteed. This will be held from 6:00pm to 8:30pm at the Tank Beer Bar, 1166 Gold Coast Highway, Palm Beach. There is no cost to attend this event. Snacks will be provided on arrival, with dinner and drinks being able to be purchased at the venue.
The conference dinner will be held from 6:00pm (Qld time) on Thursday 5 December at the Greenmount Surf Club, right on the beach and a short walk from the conference venue. The dinner includes a three-course meal (seafood, vegetarian and vegan options available), drinks (soft drinks, beer and wine), and a balcony with spectacular views along the beach all the way up to Surfers Paradise. Cost of the conference dinner is $110 with pre-payment required through the registration link. There is a capacity limit on this event, so please register early to ensure you don’t miss out.
I am interested in information about attending the next conference. I have just commenced my PhD at Griffith Centre for Sustainable Enterprise
Hi Geoff, we are about to post something about the upcoming AFRN Symposium for ECR and postgrads.
Are there any plans for a Agri-Food-Research-Network Conference in 2022/2023?
Hi Connor, I have referred your question to the Convenor.
